A Queer Comedy Fundraiser

(August 1, Ottawa, ON) On Wednesday, August 16, The Velvet Duke hosts a comedy fundraiser in support of Minwaashin Lodge and their Halifax Fringe Festival production of “All Request Radio”

While The Velvet Duke has an excellent history of producing Festival shows (Fringe Festivals – Ottawa, Halifax, Toronto, Victoria, Fresh Meat, ARTicipate) and at bars in Toronto (and once at the House of TARG), this is their first pub show since moving to the Ottawa region

The fundraiser will give Velvet some financial wiggle room while at the Halifax Fringe Festival this September, as it’s expensive producing (festival) shows and incorporating accessibility solutions. The event redoubles Velvet’s commitment to community care — both in supporting the programming at Minwaashin Lodge and creating stage time for local comedians

The queer comedy fundraiser will be hosted at Irene’s Pub & Restaurant (885 Bank St), home of the wildly successful Small Fish Show

Will the comedic topics stay true to the “Goes East Coast” title? That depends on audience participation, which is always voluntary and encouraged!
