Masked mandatory event
Some comedians are bringing their new comedic material — to win the audience’s affection without the pressure of competing! Here’s one of them
Ian Newman
Ian Newman is a Canadian wannabe comedian who spends his time fighting forest fires, people, and the political systems that oppress us all. His comedy “career” kicked off at the ripe old age of 6 when his parents, clearly desperate for entertainment, signed him up for a talent show. There, he stumbled through pre-written knock-knock jokes, setting the bar impressively low for his future performances. Despite this early trauma, Ian recently decided to give stand-up another shot, proving that fighting wildfires hasn’t completely extinguished his poor decision-making skills. Now, he occasionally graces open mic nights with his presence, sharing stories that somehow make battling infernos seem like the less dangerous life choice. Masked Mandatory event
This is a COVID-Safer Comedy show. While Arts Court has a good filtration and ventilation system, this is a masked mandatory event to protect the audience, performers and technicians. No eating or drinking in the space. Some KN-95/N95 will be available at the door.
Arts Court is a mobility device accessible venue
* About Amuse Bouche Variety
There’s something for everyone… to laugh at!
While all comedic types (improv, sketch, standup, music, etc.) and experience levels welcome, the performers sign up to either share a sample or to compete for more stage time.
Punch down humour (i.e., racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic material) is never welcome in this space

I kinda love this spotlighting each performer in the show … Hoping my Ottawa kid goes to see this as she’s a lover of masked events. 🙂 Break legs in a good way.

Thank you! Self-promotion is difficult for many people, but necessary especially for shows that go against the grain. I hope your Ottawa kid comes out and says hi too!
