Politically, collaboration is at the heart of decolonizing ourselves and our artistry. Personally as a creator, especially during the pandemic, I have survived because I’ve collaborated with creators across disciplines. Learning, mentoring, and discovering together are opportunities to heal and thrive through the arts. Being a collaborative artist as part of this initiative feels like a great opportunity for everyone involved – you get a keenly engaging partner and I get to share my artistry with like-spirited (new-to-me) people on the international stage.
“Caught Velvet Duke in the lovely show Personal Demon Hunter at Imperial Pub. 50 minutes of “conscious vulnerability” with VW’s warm personality on full display, working through the things that haunt us in a funny, accessible, interactive way.”
